Absolute Johannes factotum
- SCP-3184 (?)
- SCP-3184 is a collection of carnivorous plants that look exactly like common man-made light fixtures, such as ceiling lights or bug zappers. These plants glow to attract insects, which they then trap and digest for food. Some of these plants can even conduct electricity, though how they produce it is unknown. They are kept in a botanical research center and tended to carefully, with special procedures for more dangerous individuals that can cause electrical shocks or chemical burns.
- Evil bit (?)
- The "evil bit" is a humorous concept proposed in an April Fools' Day Request for Comments (RFC) from 2003, suggesting that an unused bit in the IPv4 packet header be designated to indicate malicious intent. The idea was that if this "evil bit" were set, security would be simple: just ignore packets marked as evil, and trust the rest. Although a joke, some popular websites have been found to respect this fictional bit by dropping requests with it set, and the concept has become a metaphor for trying to find overly simplistic technical fixes for complex human or social problems. The "evil bit" has also seen various humorous or conceptual implementations in software like FreeBSD and Linux, and even inspired an XMPP protocol extension.
